The 2nd International Week on management of Networks and Services (Manweek 2006) took place in Dublin (Ireland), at the Herbert Park Hotel, from 23rd to 27th October 2006. A total of 220 people registered at different combinations of the five workshops that were collocated. The event was technically sponsored by the IEEE and the IFIP and also counted with the financial support of Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT), Cisco Systems, Hewlett Packard, as well as the collaboration of many others.

  • DSOM 2006, and the IPOM 2006 were held in parallel from the 23rd to the 25th.
  • DSOM 2006 technical program included 8 technical sessions with a total of 21 full papers and 4 short papers (selected from 85 submissions) and a panel session.
  • IPOM 2006 technical program included 7 technical sessions with a total of 18 full papers and 4 short papers (selected from 45 submissions)
  • MMNS 2006 was held from the 25th to the 27th in parallel sessions with the AGNM 2006 (from 26th to 27th) and the MACE 2006.
  • MMNS 2006 technical program included 9 technical sessions with a total of 18 full papers and 6 short papers (selected from 71 submissions)
  • MACE 2006 technical program included 4 technical sessions with a total of 14 full papers and a panel session
  • AGNM 2006 technical program included 4 technical sessions with a total of 8 full papers and one panel

    Manweek 2006 organized also a total of four keynotes and invited talks as follows:

  • DSOM and IPOM started with a joined opening session that combined two keynotes, namely:
    - The changing face of Telecoms Management, Martin Creaner, CTO, TeleManagement Forum; and
    - The Evolution of Management Patterns, Alexander Clemm, Principal Architect and a Senior Manager, Cisco
  • MMNS and MACE started with a joined opening session that combined two keynotes, namely:
    - Seamless Mobility: An End-to-End Management Perspective, Hamid Ahmadi, Chief Architect & Corporate VP Technology, Motorola; and
    - Towards a Future Internet, Ulf Dahlsten, Director, Directorate F, DG-INFSO, European Commission

    The 1st International Week on management of Networks and Services (Manweek 2005) took place in Barcelona, at the Campus of Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), from 24th to 28th October 2005. A total of 217 people registered at different combinations of the five workshops that were collocated. The event was technically sponsored by the IEEE and the IFIP and also counted with the financial support of Cisco Systems, UPC, The Ministry of Education of Spain and Telefónica I+D, as well as the collaboration of many others.

  • The 16th IFIP/IEEE International Workshop on Distributed Systems: Operations and Management, DSOM 2005, and the MMNS 2005 were held in parallel from the 24th to the 26th.
  • DSOM 2005 technical program included 8 technical sessions with a total of 23 full papers (selected from 87 submissions) and a panel session.
  • MMNS 2005 technical program included 9 technical sessions with a total of 32 full papers (selected from 91 submissions)
  • IPOM 2005 was held from the 26th to the 28th in parallel sessions with the SSS 2005 (from 26th to 27th) and the AGNM 2005 that went immediately after and lasted for the 28th.
  • IPOM 2005 technical program included 7 technical sessions with a total of 21 full papers (selected from 58 submissions)
  • AGNM 2005 technical program included 3 technical sessions with a total of 8 full papers and one panel

    Manweek 2005 organized also a total of five keynotes and invited talks as follows:

  • The technical program started on Monday with a keynote given by Mr. Steven Soenens of Scientific Atlanta who discussed the challenges of running an IP video distribution network width multicast video streams from content sources (TV stations) to broadcasting points.
  • On Tuesday morning, an invited talk given by Mr. Hirofumi Okubo of NEC Europe discussed the monitoring of digital TV transmitters.
  • On Wednesday afternoon we had a keynote by Prof. Gerard Parr from the School of Computing & Information Engineering at the University of Ulster, about the functional challenged of management of NGNs.
  • On Thursday morning the invited speaker was Mr. David Marzo-Alvarez, from Siemens Spain, who disserted on alternatives based on WDM for access area networks
  • On Friday morning the keynote was done by Dr. Peter Tomsu from Cisco Systems Austria who disserted on the challenges of grid computing networks and specially addressing several management issues.
